The Sailor Waiting Room and the Portside Deck

The Sailor Waiting Room and the Portside Deck edit

Sweeper Nunukin

The Steel Rake Middle levels begin near the entrance to the Steel Rake, and the first obstacle is Sweeper Nunukin, who resides in the Sailor Waiting Room. Sweeper Nunukin will spawn in one of two rooms in this area.

Kill Sweeper Nunukin to receive the Sailor Waiting Room Key, which is needed to proceed to the next area.

The next part of the Sailor Waiting Room is populated by Steel Rake Swabbies and Calydon Corsairs, most of which can be avoided with some clever maneuvering.

Exit the Sailor Waiting Room and players will wind up on the Portside Deck, which is patrolled by several Shulacks.

The first door to the right leads to the Navigation Resource Room, where players will find the Steel Rake Logbook and the Strongbox, both of which are needed for Quests.

Leave the Navigation Resource Room and continue out the Portside Deck to the Sailors Quarters.

The Sailors Quarters, Mercenary Quarters, and the Starboard Deck

The Sailors Quarters, Mercenary Quarters, and the Starboard Deck edit

Kedomke the Drinker

Clear through the Sailors Quarters, and players will find an open doorway which leads to the next area.

To the South of the open doorway is a closed door which leads to the Mercenary Quarters. Kedomke the Drinker, a rare spawn, who most often appears in the Sea Song Tavern, carries the key to the Mercenary Quarters.

Kedomke also has a chance to spawn in the Sailors Quarters near the door that leads to the Mercenary Quarters.

Whistler Gududom

Firelord Kadomch

Inside the Mercenary Quarters players will face one of two Named Monsters, Whistler Gududom or Firelord Kadomch, for a chance at some of the rarer pieces in the Shulack Sailor and Shulack Pirate series.

Bhagwaninerk

To continue forward, go through the open door in the Sailors Quarters and locate Bhagwaninerk in one of the rooms in the following hallway. Defeat Bhagwaninerk for the Starboard Deck Key, and proceed to the Starboard Deck through the door at the top of the stairs in the hallway outside.

Continue along the Starboard Deck, and players will eventually arrive at the Sea Song Tavern.

The Sea Song Tavern

The Sea Song Tavern edit

Madame Bovariki

Madame Bovariki is the mistress of the Sea Song Tavern, and carries the key that leads to the next area. Be sure to clear the area of monsters before pulling Bovariki, as the group will need some space to fight her. In the Sea Song Tavern players will also have access to numerous items needed to complete Quests.

By defeating Bovariki, players will receive either the Tavern Key 2nd Floor, or the Loot Depository Key, both of which ultimately lead to the next area.

Players can find the door to the Loot Depository at the South end of the Sea Song Tavern. The door leading to the second floor of the Sea Song Tavern is just to the East of the bar.

The Loot Depository Key will lead directly to the next area, the Loot Depository, while with the Tavern Key 2nd Floor, players will need to clear some normal monsters and do some clever jumping and gliding across suspended platforms to navigate to the next area.

The reward for the extra effort is a treasure box located next to the Tavern Air Vent. Once the treasure box has been looted, break the Air Vent Cover and proceed to the Loot Depository.

The Loot Depository, the Restricted Zone, and Grogget’s Safe

The Loot Depository, the Restricted Zone, and Grogget’s Safe edit

Once in the Loot Depository, continue downward deeper into the belly of the Steel Rake.

Descend a few ramps, and players will encounter Tamer Anikiki, who provides a challenge. If players can navigate the remaining room of the Loot Depository in a short amount of time, they will receive a special reward. Be wary though, Petrahulk Sentinels and other monsters lurk around every corner here, so proceed with caution!

Once the Loot Depository has been successfully navigated, players will find themselves in the Restricted Zone, which is the final area of the Steel Rake Middle Levels.

Discerner Werikiki

Collector Memekin

Here players will need to defeat one or two Named Monsters to procure the key needed to access Grogget’s Safe, and the final Named Monster. To the Southeast players will find Discerner Werikiki, and to the Southwest, Collector Memekin. Either Werikiki or Memekin will drop Grogget’s Safe Key.

In Grogget’s Safe, players will encounter the final Named Monster of the Steel Rake Middle Levels: Golden Eye Mantutu.

Golden Eye Mantutu

Golden Eye Mantutu edit

While Golden Eye Mantutu seems like an imposing foe, this encounter is simple in execution. When Golden Eye Mantutu receives either the Thirst or Hunger buff, players will need to group together and pull the Water Supply Device or Feed Supply Device on the Eastern side of the room.

As one would expect, the Water Supply Device removes Mantutu’s Thirst buff, while the Feed Supply Device removes Mantutu’s Hunger buff.

Golden Eye Mantutu

When Thirst is active, Mantutu’s defenses will increase by a huge amount. When Hunger is active, Mantutu’s attack and critical strike chance will increase by a huge amount. It’s important that these buffs be removed as soon as possible.

Mantutu will also use the Thrash and Sweeping Strike skills which inflict damage to the tank, as well as Resounding Roar, which will fear the group for a few seconds.

Keep pulling the Supply Devices in correspondence with the Thirst and Hunger buffs, and Mantutu will die a quick death.

Tamer Anikiki can be completely ignored during the encounter, and is immune to damage.
