Server Merge FAQ
Aion Server Merge FAQ
Last Updated: March 21, 2012
When will the server merges happen?
The server merges will happen on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
What servers will be merged?
Will I be able to keep all of my items, equipment and Kinah?
Yes, everything on your characters will transfer with you, including items, equipment and Kinah.
What if I have items in the legion warehouse or on the broker?
Items in the Legion warehouse will be transferred with the Legion Brigade General to his/her new server. Items you have on the broker will be transferred to the broker on your new server.
What will happen to my legion?
Your legion will stay formed through the Legion Brigade General. All characters in the legion will remain so on the new server.
What about my Legion name? Will it be changed if there is a name conflict with another Legion?
Legions that require a name change due to name conflicts coming from Zikel will have an randomly generated name (numbers and letters) put in place of the previously existing name, and a Legion Name Change ticket will be issued to the Brigade General of the Legion. A Legion can then either choose to keep that name, or change it with the Legion Name Change ticket.
For example, if the Legion “Adventure Call” on Zikel is conflicting with another Legion on Vaizel, the system would randomly rename your Legion to “Se342i1k34”.
We want to change our name! When will my Brigade General receive a Legion Name Change ticket?
During the merge, a legion name change ticket will be distributed to the Brigade Generals of Legions whose names were changed shortly after due to conflict during the server merge on March 28. Once the tickets are distributed, your Brigade General can use the free Legion Name Change ticket to change the Legion's name.
What will happen with my characters name after the merge?
Once the merge occurs, a character with a conflicting name will be given randomly generated name consisting of letters and numbers. For example, “Fergreedy” on Zikel would become “2Efji9934” after the merge.
When can I use the free name change ticket after the merger is complete?
When the merge maintenance is completed on March 28 2012, you'll be able to log in and use your free Character Name Change ticket to change your name. All uses of that Character Name Change ticket will be on a “first come, first served” basis.
How will I know if one of my friends had to rename their character after the merge?
We are currently investigating the best way to go about this process and will keep you informed.
What happens to my Elyos character if I already have an Asmodian on the new server (or vice versa)?
After the merge, we will be having a period of time where both Asmodian and Elyos characters on a single account are playable on the same server. This is being done to ensure all players can find the appropriate homes for their characters. We will be turning race restriction back on at a later date and you will no longer be able to play both races on one server. At this point, any accounts that have a race conflict on a server will be asked to choose a playable race for that server, and the opposing race (not chosen) will be unplayable until they are transferred to a non-race conflicting server. We will provide more details as to this exception at a later date.
Does this mean that I can take advantage of my ability to access both factions during the timeframe that race conflict prevention is disabled?
While the race conflict settings are disabled, our GM's will be actively monitoring the game for players that are using this advantage to progress faster than normal.
What happens to my account warehouse if I have opposing races merged onto the same server?
If you have both races on a single server after the merge; each race will have separate account warehouses. (Asmodian and Elyos characters never share account warehouses)
What will happen to my fortress?
All Abyss Fortresses’ ownerships will be reset during the merge.
What will happen to my AP points?
Characters will keep their AP points.
What will happen to my abyss rank?
Abyss Ranks will be recalculated 24 hours after the server merges happen, taking into account a character’s current AP on the new, merged server. This means that if you were of Army Governor rank on your old server, but merged with another server whose Army Governor was higher in AP than you, you will no longer be an Army Governor.
What server am I going to?
Please see the list of servers that will be merged above.
I would rather go to a different server. What can I do?
We would encourage you to give your new server some time and explore it to see if it is a good home for you. If it is not, we will be offering server transfer services later on.
General Naming Conflict Information
To minimize name conflicts caused by low level inactive character, all characters below level 9 that have been inactive for over one year (have not logged in since March 28, 2011) will be deleted. This applies to ALL characters, not just characters on inactive accounts. If you have a character on your active account that is below level 9, but you have not logged into that character in over a year, log in before the merge and the character will not be deleted.
|If you can't remember the last time you logged into a low level character, go ahead and log in just to be safe!|
The servers will be merged during weekly maintenance this Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Vaizel characters will not have their name changed during the merge itself.
Character on Zikel who have a name conflict will have their name changed to a series of letters and numbers (example – T456jp1).
Zikel characters whose names are changed will receive a name change ticket.
|You should select a new name immediately, even if you plan to appeal the name. You will not be able to group with others, or receive credit from dredge unless you have changed your name so that it no longer has numbers in it.|
Name conflict appeals – Zikel players and legions that lose their names can send a petition to Customer Service to appeal to get their name back. The below process will be used to determine who keeps the name. Please understand that we are doing our best to provide the most fair process to everyone involved!
Players have two weeks (3/28 – 4/11) from the date of the merge to appeal their names.
Appeals sent after the 2 week deadline will not be considered.
How do I appeal my name?
Send a ticket to customer service either from https://aiononline.custhelp.com/. Please do not use the Live Chat system, as customer service will need an official request. Please give your account name, character name that you are appealing and the name of that character currently.
Example – Hi! I play on Zikel and I lost my character's name in the merge. My name was originally Awesome on the Aion account Awesomesauce. I have used my name change ticket to change it to Awesomeee, but I would like to get the original name of Awesome back. Thanks!
If the Zikel account is active, and the Vaizel account is inactive or banned, the Zikel character will automatically be granted the name.
o Inactive is defined as the subscription is lapsed and has not logged in previous to February 1st, 2012 (12:01AM UTC).
If both accounts are active, customer service will examine both accounts for the following criteria:
Creation Date of the character (not the account)
Total time paid on account
Best 2 out of 3 of the above criteria will get to keep the name.
If the Zikel player wins the appeal, their name will be changed back. The Vaizel player losing the appeal will have their name changed to CurrentnameVZ. This Vaizel player will receive an in-game mail explaining why their name was changed, with a name change ticket, and a plastic surgery ticket attached as compensation.
If the Zikel player does not win the appeal, the name will not be changed. Customer support will respond to the petition letting you know that the other character better met the above criteria.
How do I appeal my legion name?
The Brigade General should send a ticket to customer service either from https://aiononline.custhelp.com/. Please do not use the Live Chat system, as customer service will need an official request. Please give your account name, legion name that you are appealing and the name of that legion currently.
Example – Hi! My legion on Zikel lost its name in the merge. Our name was originally <Awesome>. I am the Brigade General on the Aion account Awesomesauce. I have used my Legion Name change ticket to change it to <Awesomeee>, but I would like to get the original name of <Awesome> back. Thanks!
Customer service will examine both legions for the following criteria:
Highest Level (this is Level 1-5, not rank on server)
Creation Date of the Legion
Total contribution points
Best 2 out of 3 of the above criteria will get to keep the name.
If the Zikel legion wins the appeal, their name will be changed back. The Vaizel legion losing the appeal will have their name changed to <CurrentnameVZ>. This Brigade General will receive an in-game mail explaining why their name was changed, with a legion name change ticket.
If the Zikel legion does not win the appeal, the name will not be changed. Customer support will respond to the petition letting you know that the other legion better met the above criteria.
