Within the Abyss, an eternal war rages where the Elyos and the Asmodians are constantly battling each other and the Balaur for control of the many fortresses within Reshanta. Each fortress gives the controlling faction more influence in the Abyss and another base from which to launch attacks on their enemies. The closer to the heart of Reshanta, the more valuable the fortress.
When a faction controls a fortress they will have several amenities available to them. These include a Quartermaster, Warehouse Keeper, and Soul Healer. Also, fortresses have a Fortress Teleporter, which will allow you to travel to other fortresses to help defend them.
Each fortress also houses a powerful Artifact that can greatly benefit the faction that controls it.
A Soul Healer is available to remove your soul sickness as well as any experience debt you may have. However, fortresses do not contain Obelisks, so players must use a kisk in order to resurrect there.
A Warehouse Keeper is also available to you so that you may relieve your inventory of items you wish to save for later or retrieve a needed item. Fortresses will also have a Legion warehouse available.
A Quartermaster sells various general goods, reagents for specific skills, and important recipes for crafting.
They also sell morphing recipes that can only be purchased from fortress quartermasters. Each fortress quartermaster has their own exclusive morph method recipes.
Fortress Teleporters can help you travel to other fortresses your faction controls as well as your main base within Reshanta. Be aware that teleporters are NPC characters that CAN be killed by your enemies. You will not be able to teleport to a fortress whose teleport NPC is dead.

Controlling fortresses within the Abyss allows your faction to get deeper into Reshanta and closer to their enemy. This allows battle-lines to be drawn closer to your enemy’s landing, thus giving you a base from which to stage attacks into enemy territories as well as ground to retreat to when necessary.
However, taking control of a fortress can be a difficult task. You must defeat your enemies and in the process destroy the Fortress Gate to gain entrance. Alternatively, some fortresses have a secondary entrance that is not protected by a gate, but is often guarded by a heroic difficulty NPC. Once inside you can take down the Aetheric field to allow access from the skies above. More importantly however, once the gates have been breached, you must find and destroy the Guardian Deity. Once the Guardian Deity has been defeated, ownership of the fortress will be set to your faction and assigned to the legion that was most influential in the fight against the Deity.

Please Note: The times below reflect the server time. For example; for siel the times would be in Pacific Standard Time. (PST) For Zikel, the times would be in Eastern Standard Time. (EST) |

Aetheric Fields:
The aetheric fields surrounding the fortresses keep them protected from aerial infiltration. These can be your best friend when defending the fortress or your worst enemy when attacking. They are not a fail safe method of protection though. If the gates are breached, the Aetheric Field’s generator can be destroyed causing the field to dissipate and opening the fortress to an aerial assault. The Aetheric Fields are only in place when a fortress is vulnerable.
Fortress Gate and Gate Stones:
While you are the first line of defense, the fortress gate is the main deterrant to ward off intrusion. The gate can take large amounts of punishment before being breeched by an attacking force and the siege weapons they may have to assist them. To the defending faction’s benefit, the gate can be repaired by using Gate Stones.
Gate Stones are devices within a fortress that repair the fortress gate. You will need to be a part of the controlling legion in order to use the Gate Stone and doing so will consume a number of Gate Restoration Stones. Once activated, the Gate Stone will repair a portion of the fortress gate’s damage.
Guardian Deity General:
The last line of defense for a fortress is the Guardian Deity General. This creature is the toughest you will find within the walls of a fortress and, when defeated, it will relinquish control of the fortress to the faction that defeated it. The Deity will appear in a different location depending on which fortress you are attacking, so a little bit of scouting can go a long way to influence your attack.
Other Fortress Defenses:
To assist with Fortress defenses, Vitality Wells will be placed in certain Fortresses. These Vitality Wells will be accessible during battles, and will heal injured Daevas who stand or rest within two meters.
Aerial Defenses:
Name | Description |
Sentinel’s Eye | When a member of the opposing faction wanders too close, this sentry turret will fire upon them. |
Iron Explosive Mine | Explodes when a member of the opposing Faction gets too close, damage dealt can be extreme. |
Guard Towers function much like the Sentinel’s Eye, however it is a ground defense placed around some of the fortresses rather than floating in the skies above. It can attack six targets at once.
Aerial Bunkers allow defenders some protection outside a fortress while still being able to strike at an attacking force.
Silver and Gold Medals are received for successfully attacking or defending fortresses in the Abyss. The type and number of medals you will receive is based on the grade you have received during the fortress siege. This grade is determined by the fortress you are defending or attacking and the number of Abyss Points you have acquired during the siege versus the number of points everyone else who has participated has received.
| Note: Medals as well as any other rewards for successfully attacking or defending a fortress during sieges will be sent to your character via in-game mail. |

There are special artifacts within each fortress in Reshanta that provide faction-wide effects. These artifacts, like the others, must be activated using Temporal Stones and can only be used by the legion who controls the fortress. Each fortresses artifact produces an effect for the faction controls it but unlike the artifacts that lie outside the walls of a fortress, the area of effect for these is worldwide.
