Expert Gathering Quests
Complete the Essencetapping Expert quest to increase Essencetapping skill to 499, and receive a snazzy hat!
Complete the Aethertapping Expert quest to increase Aethertapping skill to 499, and receive a snazzy hat!
Introduction to Expert Gathering Quests
Prior to the 1.9 update, players could only become an Expert in the fields of Tailoring, Alchemy, Armorsmithing, Weaponsmithing, Handicrafting, and Cooking. However, with the update, it is now possible to become an Expert in the gathering professions, which have also received clever new names.
Extract Vitality becomes Essencetapping (draining lifeblood has never felt this good!)
Extract Aether becomes Aethertapping (rumor has it that performing an aerial backflip while gathering increases the drop rate of rare Aether…it must be true, we heard it on the internet)
Experts in Essencetapping and Aethertapping will be able to raise their skill levels from 399 to 499.
The increase in skill level won’t have a huge impact at the current time (as there are no new items to gather), however, players who complete the Expert quest for Essencetapping or Aethertapping will also receive a snazzy hat suitable for asserting their swagger as an Expert and looking super fly (it also displays gatherable items on the mini-map, but who cares about that?).

Once the two Essencetapping Expert quests listed above are completed, the player will be endowed with the Expert Essencetapping Hat (perfect for strutting and imposing jealousy on others in Sanctum or Pandaemonium), and will be able to learn the next level Essencetapping skill from the trainer.
This skill allows the player to raise their Essencetapping skill from 399 to 499.
Quest Summary:
Players can begin the Essencetapping Expert quest after reaching 399 Essencetapping skill. Speak to the Essencetapping Master in Sanctum or Pandaemonium to start the quest. Following a conversation with the Essencetapping Master, players will receive the Expert Essencetapping Ring which is used to extract rare Essences.
Pick up the ring from the nearby Essencetapping Items merchant after speaking with the Essencetapping Master.

Complete the first quest by returning to the Essencetapping Master with the three rare Essences.
Once the first quest has been completed, players will receive a second quest from the Essencetapping Master which sends them to the temple in their capital city for a brief ceremony. Following the ceremony, players are awarded the title of Expert.
Rewards:

In addition to displaying items gatherable though Essencetapping on the mini-map, the Expert Essencetapping Hat is no ordinary hat; it’s symbol that proclaims to all of Atreia “Yes, I’ve tapped that Essence, and I tapped it very well”.
