Character attributes are numerical values that represent a character’s offensive, defensive, and movement abilities. In most cases, increasing an attribute will increase the character’s performance in one of the above categories.

 

In Aion, there are six base attributes assigned to each character based on their class. These base attributes are Power, Health, Agility, Accuracy, Knowledge, and Will. The six base attributes cannot be increased or decreased.

 

In addition to the base attributes, there are numerous normal attributes which can be increased through equipment, spells and effects, consumables, and other means. Some of the more prominent normal attributes include Attack, Magic Boost, Crit Strike, Crit Spell, Physical Defense, Magical Resistance, and Speed.

 

Hit Points, Mana Points, and Divine Points

Hit Points (HP), Mana Points (MP), and Divine Points (DP) are, at their core, different forms of energy. While most attributes are static and tend to change little throughout combat, Hit Points, Mana Points, and Divine Points will fluctuate, though their maximum values will tend to remain the same.


 

 HP, or Hit Points, represent a player’s vitality. By receiving damage and utilizing certain spells and effects, a player’s HP will decrease from its total. When HP reaches 0, the character dies. HP can be restored with healing spells and effects, and consumables. HP will also regenerate over time.


 MP, or Mana Points, represent a player’s magical power. By casting spells and using skills, a player’s MP will decrease from its total. In addition, a limited number of attacks reduce their target’s MP. When MP reaches 0, the character will no longer be able to use spells or skills. MP can be restored with spells and effects, and consumables. MP will also regenerate over time.

 

 DP, or Divine Points, represent a player’s divine power. By casting divine spells or using divine skills, a player’s DP will decrease from its total. Unlike HP and MP, DP starts at 0, and builds up as characters defeat monsters or other players. DP can be restored with consumables, however, the consumables that restore DP often have a cooldown.

Base Attributes

Base attributes are those assigned to each character based on their class. At character creation, a character will be assigned default values for each of the six base attributes:

 

 Power

 Health

 Agility

 Accuracy

 Knowledge

 Will


At level 10, players select a sub-class for their character, which, in some cases, will cause the base attributes to be reassigned. After reaching level 10 and selecting a sub-class, the base attributes will not increase or decrease again.


Base attributes tend to have the same effect as multiple normal attributes. For example, a character with more Knowledge will have the equivalent of increased Magic Boost and increased Magic Accuracy.

Normal attributes are those that can be increased or decreased through equipment, spells and effects, consumables, and other means. As characters level up, their normal attributes will increase.


Most normal attributes fall into one of the following three categories: offensive attributes, defensive attributes, and movement attributes.

 

  • Offensive Attributes

  • Offensive attributes are those that affect a character’s offensive attacks, skills, and spells. In general, all offensive attributes contribute to either the damage a character inflicts with melee attacks, or the effectiveness of their spells (including healing spells).


    Some of the more important offensive attributes include Attack, Crit Strike, Magic Boost, Crit Spell, and Healing Boost.

     

    The offensive attributes are detailed below:

     

     Attack

     Accuracy

     Crit Strike

     Atk Speed

     Magic Boost

     Magic Acc

     Crit Spell

     Cast Speed

     Healing Boost

     Enmity Boost

     

  • Defensive Attributes

    Defensive attributes are those that affect a character’s defense, or their aptitude to mitigate or avoid incoming damage. In general, all defensive attributes either reduce the damage a character takes, or increase the likelihood that incoming damage will be avoided.


    Some of the more important defensive attributes include Physical Defense, Evasion, Block, Parry, and Magic Resistance.

     

    The defensive attributes are detailed below:

     Strike Resist

     Strike Fortitude

     Magic Resist

     Spell Resist

     Spell Fortitude

     Concentration

     Fire Resist

     Wind Resist

     Water Resist

     Earth Resist

     

  • Movement Attributes

    Movement attributes are those that affect a character’s movement. Unlike other attributes, there are just a few movement attributes, which either increase the speed at which the character moves, or contribute to sustaining a particular movement effect (ie. Flight).


    The three movement attributes at the current time are Speed, Flight Speed, and Flight Time.
