Asmodian Leveling Guide: 18-20 Asmodian Leveling Guide: 18-20 Edit

Getting Started

Getting Started edit

So far, you’ve been gliding through Aion without a glimpse of worry or any need to ask for help. Then, you hit level 18 and suddenly feel a shift in your sense of balance and flow. While slightly more difficult, knowing where to look, what to kill, and which direction to go can make the road to 25 a lot less arduous.

As early as level 19 you can move on to either Brusthonin or Morheim for a little more adventure. Quests in these areas don’t open up until level 20, but you can hunt in these regions for higher EXP, kinah, and perhaps even a shot at an Elyos. Finally!

From Level 20-30 you will spend time adjusting to a wider variety of regions to choose from and will probably find yourself bouncing around between regions more frequently. For example, both Brusthonin and Morheim offer quests/mobs from level 20-50. There’s also the Abyss, which opens up to you at level 25 and offers mobs ranging from 25-50. So, when you start to feel things get repetitious in an area or you run out of quests, head to another region and I bet something awaits you.

What’s the difference between Brusthonin and Morheim?

Brusthonin is a PvP free zone and a safe bet if you are not yet up to your first PvP match. However, if you want to try something a little different or are itching for that first real battle, head over to Morheim and get in the thick of it. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see any Elyos on first arrival.. Trust me, they will most likely find you while you are distracted fighting mobs or gathering.

Don’t forget to bind when you get to a new region. While death during PvP only costs 1 kinah to heal your soul, if you forget to bind you will be paying flight fees to get back. Another benefit to PvP, aside from the cheap soul heal, is that it also helps you gain rank and points in the Abyss.

Basfelt Village to Trader’s Berth

Basfelt Village to Trader’s Berth edit

Loot and gather along the way

When you reach level 17 or 18 and have completed any lower level quests, you should head to Trader’s Berth, if you have not already. Trader’s Berth is in Southwestern Region of Altgard.

You can fly to Trader’s Berth from Altgard Ice Lake; however I suggest making a run from Basfelt Village so you can kill/gather along the way. I’ve highlighted the route to the right, which I’ve found to offer decent XP and drops for this level.

Keep an eye out for Karat Ikid, who’s definitely worth finding.

Trader’s Berth and Urutemheim

Trader’s Berth and Urutemheim edit

Securing the Supply Route will take you to Trader’s Berth initially and then lead you on to Impetusium. Progress this mission with Neparinerk and make sure to accept any new quests available.

After you have progressed and accepted any new quests in the Trader’s Berth area, your tracker should look similar to that on the right.

A Sneaky Delivery and Kagorinerk′s Gift will take you back to Altgard Ice Lake; wait until you have to visit Altgard and the Warehouse.

Complete these three quests and turn them back in at Trader’s Berth:

The Blue Crystals: Kill Angolems in the area to get the crystals

Securing the Trade Route: Kill pecku to get the tail feathers

Securing the Supply Route: Kill 3 Crimsontail Ampha

*All of these mobs can be found to the NE side of Trader’s Berth

Impetusium - Take to the sky

Impetusium - Take to the sky edit

When you first come out of the tunnel of Amphas and gaze on to Impetusium, you will find yourself captivated by the monumental tower and structures lying before you and the eerie beauty they behold. You will also find yourself imbued with flight, thanks to the high concentration of Aether in the area.

The third token - 85807200’s Bone Piece - can be acquired by hunting Brutal Black Claw Bodyguard in the Black Claw Village or Outpost.

Black Claw Quests and Alternatives

Black Claw Quests and Alternatives edit

After completing Impetusium, the majority of your quests/campaigns should be in the Black Claw (BC) Regions. Black Claw Village is fairly easy to sneak around solo and you might even be able to progress a couple of Quests. Grouping is definitely my recommendation for this area unless you plan to come back later once your level 23-25, depending on your class.

If you’re not up to grouping and doing the BC areas right now, try one of the following:

Hunt around Impetusium while repeating Mutated Spirits (Coin Quest)

Head to Pandaemonium for some down time and Crafting. Don’t forget you get XP while Crafting!

Head to Brusthonin and explore the new area, looting and gathering as you go.

Adventure to Morheim for mobs, looting, and perhaps a bit of PvP

One you reach level 20, you will need to adjust to the new flow of the game and having multiple maps to visit at your current level. Just don’t forget - If you run out of something in one area, jump to another. I’ve found I usually always have Quests awaiting me.

Hunting in Altgard - Lvl 16-20

Hunting in Altgard - Lvl 16-20 edit

Best areas for EXP and Loot

I’ve highlighted my favorite areas to hunt in Altgard at these levels.

These are areas you can do solo and still manage to make decent EXP while picking up nice loot items along the way.

Karat Ikid spawns around the Gribade Canyon area, is a fairly easy named mob, and drops Karat Ikid’s Greatsword.

Impetusium offers everything within reach and makes it easy to get things accomplished using flight. This is also where you will find your first repeatable coin quest, Mutated Spirits. The EXP isn’t substantial, but you can exchange the coins for armor and weapons, and in turn, sell those to make a profit. To make things exciting, try combat while in flight. You will need the practice if you plan on entering the Abyss.

Black Claw Village: Using a little stealth you can manage working your way through this area solo. Just make sure not to aggro anything pathing in a group or any elites. The coastal line offers up potcrabs, and although a little salty, I found their drops to consistent and worthwhile. Plus, there are several pathing mobs in the area that you will want to avoid. Might as well have some crab legs while you wait for an opportunity to run.

Swamp/Calderon Hill Area: Another great area for good EXP and drops.

Tips

Tips edit

Kill things on the way. If you’re waiting on something to spawn or a Quest that happens only at a certain time of the day, go ahead and kill things while you wait.

Maximize your XP. You’ve probably noticed Aion’s color coding system to mobs, gathering, quests, and crafting. The darker the color, the higher the XP. Yellow is your current level, Orange is above, and Red is getting in to the "Do you really want to try this alone?" area. Killing Red mobs requires more aid from scrolls, potions, and even more time resting to heal. If you take all of that in to account, you’ll figure out your best bet is to stay in the yellow/orange range.

Lodas Amulets can be used and will increase your XP by 20%. Just make sure you go to an area where you get good XP while using your Amulet. I would advise against using it if you’re going in to a particularly hard area or instance, unless you’re in a Group. If you end up resurrecting a lot, you’re losing out on valuable time of an additional 20% XP.

When you come in to an area that’s right at your level, make sure you put some serious thought in to binding if an Obelisk is available. This far in to the game, you will begin to notice that some bind areas don’t offer much and you’ll still need to make frequent trips to larger cities. Scrolls come in handy are nice to keep on you at this point. I recommend having a couple of Morheim/Panda scrolls.

Repeatable Quests can be very rewarding. If you are killing things along the way to Quest, as you should be, you can complete these Quests casually as you go along. If you don’t kill them all this round you can get them on your next run. Don’t spend all your time completing these, but just do what you can along the way.
