Advanced Graphics Engine
Discover the new features associated with our Advanced Graphics Engine coming in 2.5 Empyrean Calling!
What is the Advanced Graphics Engine?
We've added an Advanced option on the graphic engine – which determines the quality of the image projected onto your screen. If you select this Advanced option, you'll receive additional instructions on how to set up your screen so that the images are sharper and clearer. If you'd like to improve game performance, then select the Standard (default) graphic engine.
Will the Advanced Graphics Engine be automatically enabled?
No. The standard graphic option will still be there, but we've just added a new advanced graphic setting. You can add this by going to ‘System Menu → Options → Graphic Options and selecting ‘Advanced Graphic Engine'. Those changes will get applied to your client once you restart it.

What's the best option for a low performance computer?
If you select the fixed frame per second (Fixed FPS) option (in the Graphic Option window), the system will automatically adjust the overall graphic settings to retain that fixed frame. We recommend using this option for low-spec computers that have low frame rates.
Will the Advanced Graphics Engine decrease my system's performance?
All you have to do is set up the graphic engine option as you have done in the past. If you select the ‘Default graphic option', you can play the game using the same graphic engine as you did before. It's important to note that in order to maintain a fixed frame, we recommend setting various options at the lowest possible setting. We also recommend that you utilize functions like “Character Detail” so that you can lower the level of character detail in areas where there are multiple characters.
I can't see the changes I made; what gives?
Options that include an asterisk (*) next to it require a restart of the client in order for the changes to be applied. Once you restart your client, the setting changes will automatically be applied.
What is the Advanced Shadowing feature?
We've changed how shadows are drawn; specifically, shadows of buildings and characters were newly drawn based on distance. Essentially, the closer something is on the screen, the more clear and defined the shadow will look to you.

What is the Advanced Shader?
The shader that we had, utilized a different method than the standard graphic engine. We've made a lot of changes to it in order to express more varied and detailed features. This feature is being used on many aspects of the game to make the game look more realistic. including: shading, lighting, shadows, camera effects, depth, and even fog and water effects.

What are the Advanced Background Details?
Now, surface flatness has a more detailed, 3D look to it.

What is the Anti-Aliasing feature?
The game currently does not support Anti-Aliasing (a function that allows you to smooth out the edges of an image by inserting color values between pixels) with the Advanced Graphic option. We have applied a feature similar to Anti-Aliasing directly onto the client in order to smooth out the edges of characters, buildings and images.
What is the Sunlight Effect?
This refers to the light emitted from a light source, like the Sun or the Moon, which we have enhanced for this update. If you want to boost the game's performance, however, we recommend turning this setting off.
 |
|
Sunlight Effect OFF (left), Sunlight Effect ON (right) |
What is the Advanced High Quality Weather Effect?
We've added the ability to show or hide snowfall, in addition to the existing weather effects that we already have in the game. Currently, because snow only falls in certain areas and for a set period of time, when you change the option you will not see the effect right away.
 |
|
Advanced High Quality Weather Effect OFF (left), Advanced High Quality Weather Effect ON (right) |
What is the Distance Focus Effect?
When using the zoom-in effect in the game, you can now choose this setting to auto-focus on your character and blur out the background.
 |
|

I can't adjust the settings for the Advanced Graphics?
Based on the specifications of the computer that you are playing the game on, some of the settings will automatically be restricted. This will help protect your computer from experiencing performance issues based on an analysis of your computer specifications.
How can I maximize game play?
The Advanced Graphic option uses a lot more texture memory than the standard graphic option. So, we recommend that you use the Windows7/Vista version to run the game smoothly.
